Derek Carr Retires Due To:
Derek Carr felt pain in his shoulder in March while preparing for the 2025 season. After recovering from a left-hand injury and concussion while playing on December 8, 2024, he started preparing for the 2025 season. He felt pain in his shoulder, then Derek immediately went to the medical team of the Saints.
The medical scan finds out that Derek has a labral tear, and his rotator cuff has a chance of leading to loss of function over time.
All the Saints medical team, outside medical experts, and Derek have worked together to find out the best path for the future. The only option was surgery, putting the entire season at risk, and there is no guarantee that Derek would be fully recovered with the function of his shoulder, performance, and strength level.
Derek discussed with his wife and the Saints organisation it is the best time to retire.
